Project Presentation Video S-Factor 2017 and a Workshop ‘How to Make a Good Video?’

On Friday, 20th January 2017, participants in this international project Video S-Factor met in Črnomelj. For the second year in a row, the event will be organized by the Elementary School Milke Šobar – Nataše.
Project Video S-Factor in 2017 is based on presenting abilities and creativities of persons with disabilities to the general public through various videos. The project joins 14 Slovenian schools with special curriculum and 6 schools for children with special needs from five foreign countries.
The common theme of all the videos this year is water. In addition to students with special needs, pupils from regular elementary schools will also participate in the project this year.
After seeing and learning about our school, the 25 mentors from Slovenia and Croatia received detailed information about the progress of the project. The ‘presentation was then followed by a workshop in which they learned the basic rules of filming and preparations for recording short videos. Participants at the gathering exchanged experiences from working with children with special needs, compared education systems of Slovenia and Croatia, and made new acquaintances and friendships.
Videos that will be filmed during the project will be presented to the public in early May 2017. The project will be completed on 18th May 2017, with the final event and the announcement of the results for the best videos in KC Semič. The event will be held in association with the International Festival Play With Me, where visitors of all generations could enjoy in various creative workshops as well as socialize with children with special needs.

Winter Sports Day

On Thursday, 12th of January, the school organized a sports day with activities on the snow. In the morning, we drove to the skiing Centre Gače. The bravest children went skiing. We borrowed the skis from the Elementary School Miran Jarca. This year we got the tickets for free. For some of the children who wore ski boots and skis for the first time, this was a special event. Children as well as teachers also enjoyed sledging and throwing snowballs.

Winter Collage with Father Christmas

On Friday, the 23rd of December 2016, the school got an unexpected visit from Father Christmas.

The was a special letter waiting for us at the school’s hall, sent by Father Christmas. In the letter he scorned the students a bit, telling them to behave nicer and he also congratulated the teacher for their exceptional work. Later the students and teacher played some competitive games.

Father Christmas also brought letters and cards from students of Elementary School Ljuba Šercer in Kočevje and he gave away ‘sweet’ presents to all the students. In return the students sang some Christmas songs. The head teacher, Mr Matjaž Barič, warned the student of the dangers in using pyrotechnic devices and wished them all a happy new year.

We then danced some more, talked and finally said goodbye wishing everybody happy holidays.

Mixing Modern and Traditional

The Municipal Event at the Independence and Unity Day

On Thursday, 22nd December 2016, Elementary School Milke Šabar-Nataše and Junior High School Črnomelj prepared together an event which took place at the Culture Home in Črnomelj. After the welcoming speech by the head teacher of Junior High School, Mrs Elizabeta Prus, and the honorable speaker, Mr Samer Khalil, followed a rich cultural program in which 20 of our students participated with singing, reciting and acting.

The cooperation with the high school presented a challenge but also turned out a great experience with very positive feelings and beautiful thoughts, which we have shared with the students in this holiday time. Not only in combining modern with traditional, but also with values such as courtesy, attention, patience, we interweaved our cooperation and demonstrated we are mature members of society. Successful cooperation and execution of the event, presented our students and their mentors a priceless pre-holiday gift.
