Days of the Defectologists in Novi Sad (Serbia)

In Novi Sad, from 9th till 12th February 2017, the International Congress of social and special educators, speech therapists and surdopedagogy took place. The Congress was organized by the Society of Defectologists and Faculty of Special Education and Rehabilitation, University of Belgrade. The event was attended by professional workers from Italy, England, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

More than one hundred experts in the field of special education has prepared lectures, workshops and short presentations, where we learned about the innovations in the field of special education, supported with examples of good practice.

We have also actively participated with two contributions. The school’s head teacher, Matjaž Barič, introduced the international film project Video S-Factor, which is organized by our school. In addition, our teacher Dijana Brinac, presented the Prader-Williy Syndrome.

We have made a number of new acquaintances and friendships with the hope of cooperation and participation in joint international projects for the future.

At Preseren Day, the Slovene Cultural Holiday

On Tuesday, 7th February2017, the school was delighted to get an invitation from the Elementary School Loka, to see a wonderful performance the Sleepy Little Star.  The story was carried out by fourth grades under the mentor Helena Šikonja, their teacher.

Back in the school, we had a short programme at which each class had to interpret the Slovenian national anthem and perform at the so-called ‘Preseren stage’. The acts were original and beautiful. The best two acts were; a song performed by our teachers and a newly formed music group ¨Milka¨ by the students. The jury has closely followed the performers and at the end of the show selected the best.
