Long awaited corridor is officially open

On Wednesday, November 28th, 2018; the long awaited day finally arrived as the official opening of the new connecting corridor took place. Pupils and teachers were pleased with the crowd of people gathered in the lobby of our school to attend the interesting and emotional cultural program, which was solemnly shaped by our students. The ribbon cutting ceremony by the head teacher Matjaž Barič and the Mayor of the Črnomelj Municipality Mojca Stjepanovič Čemas, then followed the program.
The connecting corridor will enable us an easier, and above all, a safer transition from school to the boarding school.
In addition to the corridor, we are also looking forward to other new acquisitions – the new school van suitable for transport of physically disabled students.

Project RISE

This school year, our school became a part of an international project RISE (Roma Inclusive School Experiences). The participating partners in the project are the University of Bologna (Italy), Instituto Degli (Italy), the University of Minho (Portugal) and RIC Novo mesto. The project’s main goal is to provide an inclusive school for Roma children in order to prevent discrimination in education and to reduce the number of Roma children leaving the school system in Slovenia, Italy and Portugal. Involvement in the project will bring us new knowledge and competences, since within the project we will participate in trainings and different activities for education workers, parents and pupils. In December, we will also attend a two-day meeting of partners in Portugal, where we will present our examples of good practice.

We thank RIC Novo mesto for inviting us to join the project.
