Open Door Day

On Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, Elementary School Milke Šobar – Nataše opened its doors for visitors.

The first pupils were welcomed were pupils from Loka Elementary School, Metlika Elementary School and Komandant Staneta Dragatuš Elementary School, who took part in inclusive workshops. Pupils could choose to socialize in cooking, art-technical, musical and Play Attention workshops.

After breakfast, our small lobby quickly filled up with other visitors who watched the cultural programme. Our students prepared a wonderful event to tribute France Prešeren, Slovene greatest poet, with songs, dance, recitations and a short play. In the closing speech, the headteacher Judita Rupnik invited all visitors to see the school premises, take a look at the classes and feel the pulse of the school.

To all visitors, thank you very much for your visit and support. See you soon!

Socializing with volunteers

On Friday, January 24th, 2024, volunteers who are on exchange in Slovenia at Dijaški hom (student home), visited us during the first school hour. A project workshop was taking place at the Dijaški dom  in Črnomelj, so we took advantage of the opportunity to make some new friends.

Five students spent the first hour together with volunteers from Slovenia, Germany and France. While playing board games, they used the time to chat in English and practise their knowledge of a foreign language. In return, they gained a lot of self-confidence.

We would like to thank the organizers and participants. Hopefully there will be more such meetings in the future.

Charitable Lions Club

On Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, representatives of the Podzemelj Bela Krajina Lions Club visited our school. We warmly welcomed them with a short cultural program.

The Lions Club is a voluntary humanitarian organization whose motto is “we serve”. Every year they help people, and this year the representatives of the Bela Krajina club decided to donate their funds to our school.

The club president, Jaka Malnarič, symbolically presented us with a check worth 1,000 €. At the same time, the Club prepared for students  packages containing warm socks that will keep them warm during these cold days.

We would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for choosing us and donating the funds to us.

A generous donation of Pizzeria Klepec enables many new opportunities for our students

On Monday, September 23rd, 2024, we held a short cultural program to thank the owner of Pizzeria Klepec for their generous donation, as they donated the entire days earning.
The support and generosity of the owner and their customers  moved us and gave us new hope for better and more beautiful school days. The donation in amount of €2,700 will enable our students to participate in activities that they would otherwise not be able to afford.
Thanks again for your contribution. We appreciate the support and shown trust in our work.

The competition lasted for three days. In the meantime we had some free time, which we used to socialize with other teams and get to experience Mostar and its surroundings. We socialized the most with the team from Banja Luka, with whom we also visited the local sights. We walked through the old town, where we were enchanted by the colorful stalls and the Old Bridge over the Neretva River. We also went to the Fortica Skywalk. It is a platform that offers a stunning view of the city of Mostar. On the way home, we also stopped by the beautiful Buna river.

A big Thank you to the “Los Rosales” Center from Mostar for the invitation and authentic Bosnian hospitality.
