Visiting Center COMP @ S

On Friday, December 14th, 2018, teachers from our school and Elementary School Dragotin Kette from Novo mesto, visited the Gustavo Šiliha School in Maribor, more precisely the Expert Center COMP @ S.

The mentors presented the organization of their center for integration and support of children and adolescents, which is a part of a network of professional institutions offering support and guidance to children with special needs and their families. The organization is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union Social Fund.

In the Podravje region, a center of highly competent experts was established as a test project. With new solutions, strategies and methods of work, they offer comprehensive support for inclusive education to children with special needs, their families, kindergartens, schools and other institutions working with children or adolescents with special needs.

With great interest we observed their rich collection of didactic tools, which are also available for lend. We exchanged past experiences with the test project and finally invited colleagues from Podravje to visit Bela Krajina.

On Wednesday, November 28th, 2018; the long awaited day finally arrived as the official opening of the new connecting corridor took place. Pupils and teachers were pleased with the crowd of people gathered in the lobby of our school to attend the interesting and emotional cultural program, which was solemnly shaped by our students.
